Mary E. Wheeler, 71, a resident of Parkville, MO passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at NorthCare Hospice with her loving family at her side. Mary was born April 29, 1941 to Evelyn (Kauffman) and Wilbur Wilcox in Trenton, MO.
Mary will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a pillar of strength within the community of her church and school. Mary was a Methodist by faith and lived her life to the fullest, especially inspiring her love of faith to her school children and friends. She was a nurse and clerical worker; along with many additional duties for the Park Hill School District for over 27 years. She also taught Sunday school at Platte Woods United Methodist Church. Mary enjoyed spending time with her husband, Ron and family. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Peggy Wilcox. She is survived by her husband, Ron Wheeler of the home; daughter, Linda Bryan of MO; son, Ronnie Wheeler of Parkville, MO; two grandsons, Alex Bryan and Tyler Wheeler; brother, William Wilcox, St. Joseph, MO; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm, Wednesday, January 2, 2012 at the Platte Woods United Methodist Church 7310 NW Prairie View Rd. Platte Woods, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held 10 am, Thursday, January 3, 2012 at the church with Sr. Pastor Steve Breon officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Platte Woods United Methodist Church Children’s Ministries. Cremation. A private Committal Service will be held at a later date.
